for K - 12 Teachers and Leaders

Designed to support you.

This course focuses on the elements of comprehensive classroom assessment for elementary teachers and leaders and provides an opportunity to practice identifying possible evidence related to a specific outcome or standard

When Goal Setting is viewed as one of 7 Actions of Assessment for Learning rather than an isolated event, we can go beyond good intentions and hopes of improvement. When we know where we’re going, what success looks like, and receive feedback in relation to that success criteria, we can set goals and self-monitor our way to success. This module focuses on goal setting that is realistic, practical, and possible and is more likely to occur when done in the context of the 7 Actions of Assessment for Learning. In particular, when we co-construct criteria with students, we surface ideas that can become their ’next steps’ in learning.

Sandra Herbst was fantastic at our conference. Her sessions were very popular amongst participants and the feedback has been extremely positive. Her sessions got to the heart of the matter for us with respect to assessment. She challenged thinking and caused many to reflect on their assessment practices. "

What our participants have said...

We’ve enjoyed working with clients around the world – from small schools to large regional districts and governement. Whether it has been supporting educators in elementary or secondary schools, assisting graduates or faculty in post-secondary, or providing services in French, we’re able to meet the ever changing complex needs of the people we work with.

Over the last twenty plus years I have heard many educators speak on many topics but Anne has that added edge of 'sparkle' that captivates her audience! All I can say is WOW! It was not only a 'homerun' but she cleared the 'ball' out of the ballpark! Simply put... it was a gift to have Anne with us!"

Derrick Mohamed, Junior High Principal:

"Anne, your impact is greater than you know on so many levels. You reminded me how important it is to respect our learners. You allowed me to not only see and hear what Assessment for Learning looks and sounds like, but more importantly, what it FEELS like! Safe, respectful, self-motivating, reflective."

"I'd just like to take a moment to write to you and Anne, Sandra and all the professionals at connect2learning. For many years, we, as a system and myself as a teacher and coordinator have relied on the professional learning resources that are grounded in sound pedagogy and teaching practices. With the addition of the online learning modules, our teachers had the opportunity to work through the modules in collaborative groups to refine their assessment and evaluation practices. Teachers enjoyed the options available to them and the fact that they are able to return to the modules over the course of the year. It has been a pleasure working with the professionals at c2l, they listened to all of our requests and exceeded our expectations. I look forward to working with them in the years to come."
